浪漫台三線藝術季-舊時光 客漫步Shitan, a Hakka township on Provincial Highway No. 3, is surrounded by a number of mountains and rivers. With a great location, this place is famous for its breathtaking scenery and enriched ecology. Shitan was once a major producing area for camphor before the decline of camphor industry. Numerous trails in the forests developed in the old days have become the most popular attractions for tourists to explore nature. Raknus Selu Trail, a 407km road, passes Taoyuan, Hsinchu, Miaoli, and Taichung. This is a historic trail which helped the development of Hakka culture in the local area in the old days. After the rise of highways, this meandering trail plays a significant role of preserving the simple agricultural lifestyle in Taiwan. Four land art pieces, built based on the concept of ecological harmony, give us an opportunity to review the development of the past industries and also look forward to creating a bright future in Shitan. There are 10 tours scheduled to introduce Shitan and Raknus Selu Trail to the public. Moreover, the “Market along the Trail” will be held on the lawns next to Mingfeng Ancient Road (at the entrance of Xinfeng Suspension Bridge) on November 16 and 17. There will be numerous stands with Hakka elements, such as DIY activities, crafts, food, and culture. A variety of produce will also be displayed by local young farmers for you to learn more about this place. If you are interested to explore nature, there are also ecological guided tours. Many singers and groups are also invited to join this event, including Liang Wen-yin (Golden Melody Awards winner), Gina’s Can (a Hakka band), Huang Yu-juan (Hakka singer), Chen Meng-qiao, and Bei Yuan Shan Mao (an aboriginal band). We sincerely invite everyone to join this art feast and enjoy a lovely time in Shitan by taking a walk along Raknus Selu Trail.
